Limitations

At this time GitBooster only works with Jira Cloud.

GitBooster is NOT compatible with Jira Data Center (yet.... we plan to have a Jira DC version ready by January 2026).

GitBooster probably works on GitHub Enterprise Self-Hosted. If you want to ALSO self-host GitBooster please email us at support@bit-booster.com.

Introduction

GitHub and Jira are a classic pair. Tens of thousands of companies around the world combine GitHub and Jira to help make their software developers more accountable and more productive.

GitBooster makes this pairing even better. GitBooster is specifically designed to make the GitHub + Jira combo even more powerful and more useful.

Version 1.0

The initial version of GitBooster brings a special “mini” condensed Git commit graph to Jira.

This “mini” Git graph helps you visually understand the development state of a given Jira ticket: is it under development? Is it merged? Is it in the latest release? GitBooster answers these questions instantly and intuitively. No more digging around Git commit listings or running “git log” and “grep” on the command line!

Over the next 12 months we plan to add more features. Hopefully our next idea will be ready(ish) in time for GitHub Universe 2026 (late October 2026). Please check back around then!

How To Install

To install GitBooster you must have full admin privileges to both your GitHub organization and your Jira site. (Or you must be on friendly terms with the people that have those admin privileges).

Here is the installation procedure:

  1. From GitHub, install the GitBooster app. No further configuration is required. GitBooster automatically begins fetching the data it needs from your GitHub organizations and repositories.
  2. From your Jira cloud site, install GitBooster.
  3. From your Jira cloud site, navigate to the GitBooster configuration page. From there select the GitHub organizations you want to connect with from Jira.
  4. GitBooster might need a few minutes to fully download and index the Git metadata it needs to draw the graphs. If you are a large organization with hundreds of large 100,000+ commit repositories, please give GitBooster a few hours to finish its indexing job.
  5. Navigate to any Jira ticket. Click on the “GitBooster – Commit Graph” panel on the right to expand it. Enjoy!

How To Use GitBooster

GitBooster is very easy to use. Once it's installed simply navigate to any Jira ticket in your browser. GitBooster's mini git graph should appear automatically.

The very first time you use GitBooster just remember to "expand" the GitBooster panel on your Jira ticket. After you've done that once it will be expanded on every Jira ticket you navigate to from then on.
